Why Rollodollors? Why Now?

People have asked why would we have a classroom economy?

This term in Division 1 (Division 2 is doing it as well- but with OUTBUCKS) students receive "ROLLODOLLORS"* for coming to school and are awarded for Green light behaviours. They can also apply for and hold classroom jobs where they will earn money.

However, they also have to pay Rollodollors to rent their desk and need to pay when they fail to do their work or have classroom behaviour that is not socially responsible (some yellow and all red behaviours)

Through this program, the students have fun, learn about economics, money management, have the chance to be a productive part of our classroom community and are exposed to some of the harsher realities of the real world (like taxes and property utilities).

Term 3 works perfectly for this project as the students have enough time to hold some different jobs like banker or landlord and have enough time to earn enough money to purchase their desk.

*Please note that Rollodollors is spelt that way on purpose as it forms a Palindrome (a word that is spelled the same forwards and backwards).
